John Scott is an experienced
attorney who has practiced law since 1995. He is a former prosecutor
and litigation counsel in large Denver law firms. John Scott graduated
from the University of
Colorado with a Bachelor
of Arts in Spanish. He
attended law school
while on active duty in
the United States Marine
Corps, and graduated
from the University of
Denver College of Law in
1995.
While in law school,
John competed on both
the Trial and Appellate
Advocacy traveling
teams. John was voted
Best Speaker in the
University of Denver's
annual appellate
advocacy competition. He
was also recognized with
a Certificate of
Excellence for achieving
the highest academic
performance in Trial
Practice. John was an
active participant in
the University of Denver
Clinical Programs,
representing indigent
clients in court
proceedings throughout
the metro area.
John has diverse legal
experience that makes
him uniquely qualified
to effectively represent
his clients in a solo
practice. Having both a
criminal trial and civil
litigation background,
John can usually tackle
the various complexities
of his client's cases
without needing to refer
clients to additional
lawyers.
In 2010, John
retired from the
United States Marine
Corps Reserves as a
Lieutenant Colonel.
His most recent duty
assignment was as
appellate counsel
assigned to the Navy
and Marine Corps
Appellate Review

Washington, D.C. He is a
veteran of the First
Gulf War (Operation
Desert Storm) and of
Operation Iraqi Freedom,
where he served as the
Chief Prosecutor for the
Marines in Iraq during
2004.
John is a member of the
Bar of all Courts of the
State of Colorado, the
United States District Court for
the District of
Colorado, and the United
States Court of Appeals
for the Armed Forces.
John is a member of the
Colorado Criminal
Defense Bar Association
and the Denver Bar
Association.
